Having trouble with dual-audio on mono-tracks

Post by MoreCowbell »

Description of problem or question:

I have a video that has a single audio file (stereo). The video was broadcast with one channel (left) containing one language, and another (right) containing a different language. Unfortunately, the handbrake audio completely cuts out once the file switches from the stereo intro to the main presentation with different L/R audio.

Has anyone had luck with this before?

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.07

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Win 7 64 bit

It is quite possible someone has had the problem before, but... we have no clue what the problem is. The part of the posting template you removed, where you were supposed to paste in the log from the encode of the problematic file, might have provided a clue or two, but we won't know until you DO post your activity log....

It is strange that you're getting so many error messages when the audio is selected as "pass through" AAC.

Do you get the same errors using the nightly build version, from https://handbrake.fr/nightly.php ?

The solution for me was to mux to dual stereo tracks, so one stereo track per mono source.
This was years back, and I used AVIDemux. You could do it in ffmpeg too.

Woodstock: Haven't seen that before. May give it a try if musicvid's solutions don't work.

Musicvid: will give those a try; thanks!
