Any Windows events associated with the crash?

What you describe is often associated with a Windows component being damaged or missing, and the Event Viewer would have more information about what failed.

The event viewer message is rather general, unfortunately. The unhandled exception number is kind of a "catch all" that Windows uses... It can mean anything from a permissions problem to a module being blocked by your antivirus program:
Error code 0xc0000005 is one of Windows' very broad errors. This is because it can be caused by different factors related to an installed program, installed hardware or both. The following are just a few of the many possible causes:

An installed program such as the antivirus program that prevents the smooth start of a program.
Either corrupt or missing hardware drivers.
Incorrect system hardware configuration.
Either low memory or damaged RAM
Virus/Malware infection.
An old program.
Corrupt or damaged system registry files.
Data execution security feature (DEP).
I was going to suggest that it might be an issue with OpenCL, given your video hardware, but OpenCL wasn't detected. Lack of QSV hardware means no Intel video driver issues. :)

However, I do suggest going to the nightly build page and trying the latest version. That will be a "clean install" (you can put it in along side the 1.0.7 release), which may fix the issue.

(there is also some extra debugging information that is logged for some crash types)

I just tried the Nightly build and my computer still locks up. Ill try and install an older version. Does handbreak automatically update?

All three versions of hanbreak will always give me this in event viewer (nightly build, 1.0.7 and 1.0.2)

I did a search on the CLSID you posted, and Microsoft has some fixes for it. It is not a handbrake-specific error; Some of the pages I found said it was safe to ignore, others said it needs to be fixed, and it may have NOTHING to do with the crash.

But in my case this CLSID error is an issue that needs attention, so I'm going to look into it on the Microsoft forums like you said.

I have fixed my issue! I would like to link this just in case anyone else has this type of issue.

Thanks for referring me back to Microsoft forums, i almost gave up on it. Plus how do i mark you comment as the answer? Or make this post solved?

Actually, I think it strange that any part of handbrake would need admin privileges. Programs like MakeMKV need it to talk directly to the hardware, but handbrake doesn't do calls like that for a file-to-file encode.

Strange, but glad you've got it working now.

If you want, you can edit your first message and change the subject to include "[solved]", but it isn't that important.
