1 to 1 encoding

Post by 8trek »

Description of problem or question
if all i am wanting to do is take an mkv file and burn in subtitles without changing anything else (aka change the quality of the video and/or make the file any bigger or smaller) what are the appropriate settings? Using "same as source" for fps and "auto passthru" for audio... however don't see how to maintain same bitrate.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable)

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0)
1.0.7

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.3 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update)
win 7 pro

Error message text or screenshot (If Applicable)

Provide a URL from any image hosting site.

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Use any pastebin website and provide the URL it generates

Code: Select all

Paste log text between these markers.

You can’t, you have to re-encode the video.

Burning in subtitles requires decoding the video, drawing the subtitles on the image, and re-encoding. Makes it hard to do without re-encoding, don't you think?
