Audio defaults not saved

Post by andrewk89 »

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible:
Audio --> Configure Defaults --> Save is not persistent between HB sessions. New session gives AAC (avcodec), 96kbps Stereo. If I save a different default, close HB, launch HB, open a video, the saved audio settings are not used. Reload Defaults does not load them.

Expected behavior: Audio default is persistent between HB sessions, just like the video presets is (Preset --> Set Default).
Tell us about your environment. What version of HandBrake? What version of Windows are you running. etc.
Windows 10 x64, HB 1.0.7 x64

The audio defaults are part of the preset, so you have to save a new preset.

Given your response, this feature needs some UI improvement.

Audio --> Configure Defaults and Audio --> Reload Defaults are useless and greatly misleading buttons if they don't do anything and if their behavior is consistently overridden by other settings.

User Presets --> Update Selected Preset does not change the audio settings.

Yes, creating a new preset does allow you to configure new audio defaults, and, yes, the new it is now persistent between HB sessions.

But the expected behavior is that at least one one of, if not both of the above methods would also update the audio settings in the preset.

The feature could use some work to be less confusing. Glad it's working for you now.
