I tried searching the forum but to no avail.
I'm using handbrake to compress an MKV that I know has subtitles to a smaller MKV with the English subtitle as an option, not wanting burn in but wanting to allow the option. Fairly typical and I'm not doing anything fancy so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks!

Re: Subtitles available but not showing
You probably want to configure the subtitle defaults to select the first or all tracks matching English or French (since that's what's available in your source).
Re: Subtitles available but not showing
Yes, since the Search came up with no matching "foreign audio only" tracks:
Foreign Audio Scan can work well, but it does not work quite the way a lot of people expect it to.[15:25:58] Subtitle track 3 (id 0x3) 'English': 1521 hits (0 forced)
[15:25:58] No candidate detected during subtitle scan
