No valid source or titles in AVI file

Post by philnolan3d »

I just installed an update to CamStudio and recorded a new tutorial using the CamStudio codec. However my editing software (HitFilm) doesn't accept AVI files so I always use Handbrake to convert it to MP4. I've done this many times before but this time when I load the video Handbrake gives me this error. The video plays fine in VLC but I do see Windows Media Player only plays the audio. Any idea what the problem with the file might be?

This is in Windows 10 64-bit, Handbrake 1.07 64-bit (latest update), CamStudio 2.7.4 but I could only find the 1.5 codec, I'm not sure where you're supposed to get the current one. That's the codec I was using before and it was fine.

Here's the error:

The log suggests the AVI has a broken index. Perhaps try a nightly build (unfortunately offline at the moment, but we hope to bring them back soon).

Thanks. I sort of found a work around but it's not quite perfect. I found a free app called Bandicam, which came with BandiFix. After running the video through BandiFix I was able to load it in Handbrake. It's not ideal though so hopefully this nightly build will help.
