Installing Handbrake

Post by does.anything.work »

Hello,

I'm often advised to use Handbrake, especially as I need to convert H265 video to H264.

I came to install it on my W7 64 bit laptop, it stated I needed a netframe 4.6 what ever that is.

This net frame 4.6 would not install on this PC nor on my W8.1 PC.

I don't know what the netframe is nor why it's needed becausue most other things don't need it but it won't go on either PC hence Handbrake even though installed will not work.

The "help" from Microsoft for this Netframe 4.6 thing was useless and some of us are not computer experts.

I will keep trying.

Regards.

Thanks for the help but sadly it does not work.

Everything I try either through the install of Handbrake or on it's own like this, I get a "blocked" message.

Strange how it's on both computers.

I did read somewhere that installing of these netframes might have problems if other software is already installed.

Both my computers have lots of software so if that's the case I'm stuck.

Thanks for the help though appreciated.

https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.0.0/get- ... stall.html Select windows at the top.

Are you referring to SmartScreen blocking it?

I can't attach an image of the box which pops up but it says.

"Microsoft Net 2015
Blocking issues
The netframe 4.6 is not supported on this operating system."

Then sends me to -

Have you got the latest windows updates installed? Including Service Pack 1 for Windows 7?

.NET 4.6 is fully supported on Windows 7. If your having problems, I'd suggest you contact Microsoft for support.

Without it, HandBrake cannot run.

On my W8.1 PC, after doing the windows updates as s55 advised, the file advised by rollin_eng did go on, then handbrake went on successfully.

On my W7 PC for some reason nothing is working with regard to updates at all - obviously this is a computer problem that I'll fix eventually, I've already run various options from microsoft with no luck as yet.

I think the lesson here is do windows updates.

Still got it on one PC, many thanks for advice.

Hello again,

I have at this point gone completely off topic but I have fixed the updates not working at all on my windows 7 PC.
It turned out I needed an Intel IRRT Driver which got the updates working fine, hence the other stuff to finally install handbrake.
Solution 4 here -

Many thanks.
