How to get the right output display size in 1.0.1?

Post by drakanor »

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible:

I just installed 1.0.1 and now have problems to get the same display output size as the source has. Here is an example:

Source:
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L4.1
Format settings, CABAC : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames
Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Duration : 2 h 5 min
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 14.0 Mb/s
Maximum bit rate : 30.0 Mb/s
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS

No matter what kind of Picture Size setting I use, it always comes out totally wrong in the output display size preview value. Even the source value itself is wrong after loading the video (1920 * 800 instead of 1920 * 1080). The only way to force the correct output size is setting anamorphic to "none", deactivate "keep aspect ratio" and manually entering the values.

The automatic detection from source was working without any problems with the previous version of Handbrake.

Tell us about your environment. What version of HandBrake? What version of Windows are you running. etc.

Windows 10 Pro, Handbrake 1.0.1

Code: Select all

[19:16:41] scan: 10 previews, 1920x1080, 23.976 fps, autocrop = 140/140/0/0, aspect 16:9, PAR 1:1
1920x800 looks right to me, are you trying to distort it back to 1080 tall? Or do you want to keep the black bars on top and bottom for some reason?

Yeah.... the source is 1920x1080. If Handbrake is cropping 140 pixels of black top and bottom... 1080 - 280 = 800. Why would you want to stretch it? If you need 1920x1080 for some odd reason, it'd be better to disable cropping and encode the black bars.

Thanks for your replies, guys. Looks like there was a change in how Handbrake is displaying the video size, thus confusing me a bit. Before 1.0.1 Handbrake showed the resulting size before applying cropping values, now it shows it after applying them (I'm referring to the two input fields above the anamorphic options).
