I notice handbrake nightly is still using x265 v1.8 as indicated at Timeline 01/18/16: Changeset 13e9b51
Luckily for us.....x265 v1.9 stable was released few days ago.

Now, normally, I read that handbrake dev will not update the x265 build integrated in handbrake without good performance reasons.
Allow me to present Tom Vaughan benchmarks released on December 30, 2015.
He is comparing old presets of v1.8 with the upcoming v1.9 (the released stable v1.9 now)

Quite an improvement for bumping x265 version, no?
Time to integrate x265 v1.9 stable into handbrake?
