Some of the new blu-ray uses play list obfuscation with >300 of them.
If you know in advance which one to use, is there a way to tell handbrake to use that specific play list instead of handbrake scanning the whole disk ?
Thanks.

Set the title specific scan value to the title you want before selecting the source. (See the source menu)
Re: Selecting an explicit play list instead of Scan
So if you know that the play list file is: 00407.MPLS, what you put as the scan value ?
Do I have to count the number on MPLS and give its index.

You need to know the title number not the mpls number, i'm not sure you can specify a mpls to HB.
Re: Selecting an explicit play list instead of Scan
Yep, unfortunately you can't use the playlist number

Re: Selecting an explicit play list instead of Scan
Is it worth putting this as a feature request?
Re: Selecting an explicit play list instead of Scan
If Handbrake is "scanning" the disk, it is probably because there is some software translating it for handbrake. Usually, such software can also convert the contents directly into MKV files, so only the specific file needs to be handled by Handbrake.
Adding such a feature to Handbrake assumes it's desirable to turn HB into a ripping tool, and adding in the need to support for all the various encryption/copy protection schemes out there, rather than dedicating resources to improving what HB is intended to be.... Just sayin'....

Re: Selecting an explicit play list instead of Scan
Nah, it's a good feature to have. Unlike for DVDs, the title indexes we use for Blu-ray have no meaning (and change depending on the minimum title duration to scan), whereas playlists refer unambiguously to specific content.
But each time I tried implementing it, I got stuck with some issue or other. So basically it'll be implemented when it's ready

Re: Selecting an explicit play list instead of Scan
I am aware of HB function, I was questioning whether it might be useful if HB could be told which mpls to process directly thus no need to "scan" the source. HB has this feature for DVDs but I don't know if it's possible/desirable for blu rays.

@Rodeo
That's good to know, look forward to seeing this in the future.
