DXVA Hardware Acceleration with Handbrake : Are you getting good results ?

Post by Hanbrakeur »

Hi, I know that DXVA Hardware Acceleration is experimental on Handbrake.

But I'd like to know if you guys have tested it and what results you are getting. Please tell us alos on which format are you are encoding.

Thanks !

Hi s55 ;)

I am asking if you are getting good results with DXVA Acceleration on.
It's supposed to be experimental but it seems to work perfectly for me.
So I am asking for feedback so I don't get bad surprises in the future.

Thanks in advance.

Problem is, you posted this in the "Bugs" forum where it doesn't belong. "General" would be more appropriate.

I am using an intel 5960 8core cpu and a Nvidia K2000 Video CArd.... The speed that I get when I turn on DXVA is really quite good. The Quality that comes out I am impressed with. I am quality conscious and don't really care about file size anymore. Just give me the best picture and sound quality possible.

So the DXVA hardware decoding works perfectly for me. Just wish now they had something decent for HARDWARE encoding! Although, with 8 cores, the encoding on my machine is quite good.

Although I am not for sure if Handbrake is making use of multiple cores on my CPU or not. It would be nice if it did. If not then I could dedicate a core to it exclusively.

You should also provide logs, as it is only used in a subset of cases. It only supports a small subset of decoders and input formats. So you may find it's not even being used for your encodes.

If you get no difference between on/off, it's probably not used.
