Subtitles fail to "Burn In"

Post by DexKen »

Using latest nightly (HandBrake-svn6815_x86_64-Win_GUI) to convert Fury DVD which has subs for foreign langauge parts. Decided to test a chapter containing foreign subs so see if the subs were flagged as forced or not. Encode completed but no subs burnt in.

# Encode Completed ...
Used subrip on the dvd and it found the "forced" subs in the english track fine.

I did notice this in the encode logs

Code: Select all

Subtitle burned, but no rendering filter
Is this a bug?

Re: Subtitles fail to "Burn In"

I had an issue like this the other day. What I had to do was play the MKV file in VLC until I figured out which subtitle track had the "forced" subs that featured the foreign languages. Then I went into Handbrake and added that specific sub track in the Subtitles tab. But the final trick to make it work was to leave "Forced Only" unchecked (which seemed counter-intuitive) and check "Burned In". Worked like a charm. Hope this helps you!

Thank for the reply daring, unfortunately your tip doesn't work. The forced subtitles are in the first english track as I was able to rip them from the dvd using subrip using the forced only option. I even tried using the srt generated with subrip as the source with forced off but still no go.

The nightlies are undergoing major internal architecture changes. As such, they are considered unstable right now.

If you find things not working, please raise them as a bug, otherwise I will probably be missing issues as I don't have the time to watch this forum closely enough to detect bugs.

This particular issue should be fixed in tomorrows nightly.
