All 10.18.14.xxx drivers seems affected. The newest, build 4072 is coming with a new API. QSTranscode works with it, so I have to assume there is an issue on Handbrake side.

well, good to note that 4072 is a Beta drivers
Beta Intel® Iris™ Graphics, Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics, and Intel® HD Graphics.
...
Note:
Intel does not recommend installing these beta drivers in systems used for mission critical operations or where productivity of any kind is a concern.
I cannot even install it on my HW
but "fix by assumption" should appear soon.

thank you for the report

I just committed a possible fix: https://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/6711

It should be available in tomorrow's nightly.

It didn't work with the previous 10.14.10 driver either which is WHQL certified. I think the 4072 Beta can't be installed on Windows 8 for some reason, on my Windows 7 it was no problem. A new driver is scheduled for this month anyway.

gmb, do you still have an issue with 6711? It's a bit of a shot in the dark, but it would be nice to know the outcome of it. It doesn't help that I don't have access to a hardware-accelerated test machine at the moment…

It works but I see another problem. QSV Preset Balanced and Quality doesn't make a difference, both are using TU2. In the past Balanced did use TU4 afaik. Because of that it's much slower than usual.

That's odd indeed. Can you post encode logs for both please?

Here is a Balanced run. Even the best speed preset is running with TU2 at the moment. TU4 is almost twice as fast as TU2 for this video sample.

The preset is not being set. The WinGUI is quite unstable at the moment.

I'm using the newest nightly build. For some reason it doesn't seem to be accepting any of the advanced page settings.

I have the following:
tu=1:ref=9:gop-ref-dist=8:keyint=32:b-pryramid=1:trellis=3:extbrc=1

and it consistently loads TU=2/default settings.

I've also tried it without ":", but nothing seems to be working. I'm running some other tests to see if putting "" around the entire list makes a difference.

I can confirm this, advanced query field is broken.

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding the advanced query field as it relates to QSV, I can't seem to get it to work either. As far as I understood, I'm intended to enter options as described here: https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/QuickSyncOptions. I'm new to handbrake, so please correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm trying to test some of the suggestions that were made here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=30634

If you disable libhb-based encoding in options, it should work. The libhb-based path should be fixed soon.

Did you get it to work? I ask because I too can't get Quick Sync to work. When I go into the Video settings it says QuickSync hardware not detected!. I have tried builds 0.10.0.6534 and svn6815 (Nightly Build). I believe Quick Sync should be detected. Device Manager shows the Intel HD graphics as being fine, though I have no monitor plugged into it, and VLC appears to use hardware acceleration (Quick Sync).

I've read through many posts here and I haven't found the settings folks have mentioned in the posts. For instance, where is libhb-based encoding in options (mentioned below)? I don't like having to have my hand held, but after all the reading I've done on this I'm more confused then when I started.

My system is as follows:
  • ASUS Maximus VI GENE | ASUS GTX 760
    Intel HD Graphics 4600 - 64-bit version 15.36.7.64.3960 (10.18.10.3960) Intel drivers installed
    Intel i7 4770 | 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 2400
    Intel 235 240GB SSD
    Windows 8.1
My log for the 6534 run can be found here (I didn't finish my svn6815 run as it would have taken several hours, so there's no log):

QSV worked fine for me using latest nightly 6815, Intel Gfx driver 15.36.4080 (10.18.14.4080) on Haswell i7-4770K/Win8.1.

OK, so I got impatient and tried it already. The Intel driver created a 3rd monitor, even though only two are plugged into the system. I disabled the new one and tried HandBrake. Same problem, QuickSync hardware not detected!.

Then I enabled the 3rd monitor and tried it and it appears that it is using Quick Sync! However, the estimated time to complete the conversion is over 2 hours, and the frame rate is 25fps. Quite frankly I expected it to be faster, but maybe my expectations are off.

I'll try more testing later in the morning. I'll also try to figure out how to handle the faux monitor...

This is a completely different issue, however; please start your own topic.
