Digital Signature With Reputable Cert

Post by thebes »

Is there any plan to start signing the Windows executable? You use a Startcom identity certificate for the forum, so why can't you get their code signing certificate as well?

Might be a bit difficult - you would have to start with establishing a corporate identity behind handbrake, to qualify for a certificate that could be used for code signing.

While it would be nice, It's not practical.

HandBrake is a hobby project, not an organisation. So anything with an associated cost or any legal entity requirement is a non starter. Same reason we can't code sign on Apple.
