Hi there, this is my first time using HandBrake and I have little to no idea about the details to this stuff, I just started a project for a playthrough of a game for YT and want to get through this part of the process as easily as possible.

I'm recording videos with Dxtory with default settings since I have no idea about codecs and stuff. I noticed the resulting video was a whopping 61 GB and upon research I heard this program was good for compression. However, once HB finishes scanning the source and I click "start" it tells me that I need to scan a source first. This is the resulting log:

HandBrake 0.9.9 doesn't appear to work with Dxtory, I suggest updating to a current nightly build or beta release.

What's a nightly build? Is there any version that you know works with Dxtory?

Have a look at the announcements at the top of this, and every other, subforum. There are posts detailing both the nightly builds and the 0.10.0 beta.

So... The beta version will fix the problems with Dxtory?

I'm not 100% sure. I've heard reports that libav was updated to support dxtory a few months back, so the 0.10.0 release candidate of HandBrake should work. None of the other people who've reported this issue have bothered to come back to tell us whether it worked. :/
