Problem using HandBrake to convert an .mp4 file.
When I try to convert an original file that was about 15GB, Handbrake
converted it to an .mp4 file that was about 6.5 GB.
I get error messages that indicate that the format is unrecognizable.
If I try to open it using DivX, it says "Player does not recognize this
container format." If I try to open it using QuickTime, it says "Error -
2048: Couldn't open the file [filename] because it is not a file that
QuickTime understands."
Help?
Gary

Re: Problem using HandBrake to convert an .mp4 file.
Did you click the little check box that says "Large file size"?When I try to convert an original file that was about 15GB, Handbrake converted it to an .mp4 file that was about 6.5 GB.
In the old versions of Handbrake, the default was to use the most compatible version of MP4, which has a limit of 4GB total file size. About a year ago, that was changed in the nightly builds to use the large file format, which allowed bigger files to be created. And the latest versions switch use whatever is appropriate.
Try your encode with a nightly build.

If only they posted an encode log instead of a scan log we wouldn't have to play 20 questions.Woodstock wrote:Did you click the little check box that says "Large file size"?When I try to convert an original file that was about 15GB, Handbrake converted it to an .mp4 file that was about 6.5 GB.
