WMV to MP4 has blank picture

Using Windows movie maker, I concatenated several AVI clips into one WMV video. Using Handbrake to convert the newly created MWV file to MP4 results in a file with no picture, only sound. How do get the video to convert properly or is there a way to join the AVI clips without using Windows Movie Maker.

There are many free ways to join AVI files to import a single AVI into Handbrake.
WMM is not needed, and intermediate conversion to WMV goes against better judgment.

AVIDemux works well and is freely available on the Internet

Avidemux woks very well with a modest learning curve. I am sure it will do more than what I am doing now, but it does what I wanted with ease. Thanks again.
