Quicksync hardware not detected

Post by Ricou73-fr »

Hello, i have some trouble when i try to use handbrake on my system.

Code: Select all

HandBrake svn5879 (Nightly Build) - 64bit Version
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Ram: 16260 MB,
GPU Information:
  Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 - 9.18.10.3257
  AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series - 13.152.0.0
Screen: 1280x1024
Temp Dir: f:\Temp\
Install Dir: F:\Program Files\Handbrake
Data Dir: C:\Users\Ricou\AppData\Roaming\HandBrake\HandBrake\0.0.0.5879

-------------------------------------------
No log data available... Log data will show when you start an encode.

Open the log file directory to get previous log files.
I use Vitru MVP desktop edition 2.1.226.27114 and GPU virtualisation is on.
I have Set HandbrakeCli to iGPU mode but when i go to Preference->Video I see this message "QuickSync hardware not detected"
What's wrong ? what i have to check ? Any idea ?
Somebody can help ?
Thanks

Now that HandBrake uses libhb for scanning, you'll also need to iGPU HandBrake.exe in Virtu MVP.

Also, can you post a log *after* scanning a source?

Thank for you reply, if i try to add Handbrake.exe in Virtu Mp and set "IGPU" the windows display of handbrake gui is awfully.
Refresh is not done, when i click on some button it's another who react, the windows after source scanning still on the screen after the scanning end etc...
But you are right the quicksync is detected

My monitor is connected to my ati card, have you any idea to improve handbrake.exe display ? When i set DGPU windows is ok but with iGPU is was unusable.
Thank for your help, sorry is my explanation is not clear but english isn't my native language.

Some more information, if i minimize windows to task bar and maximize it again i was able to have a correct display. By doing this i was able to do enable quicksync in preference, after that i must close handbrake and restart it again to be able to select "H.264 (Intel QSV)" in Video->Video Codec.
Then, amazing thing, my average encoding FPS raise up by factor 2 (140fps) so it's worth.

No idea about the GUI issues, sorry. Maybe s55 can shed some light on this.

Fraid not. Sounds like a Driver and/or Lucid problem. Maybe try updating both drivers?

Thank for your help, but in fact i use latest version of ati catalyst(stable)/intel drv/lucid software.
I suppose issu is lucid fact (as gui is fine when in Dmode) and something goes wrong with Imode.

I can confirm this bug. With handbrake.exe and handbrakecli.exe set to use the iGPU, the handbrake gui is nearly useless. You have to keep minimizing/maximizing it for the screen to refresh. This is on an Asus Maximus V Gene with 3770 cpu using the latest intel and nvidia drivers along with the latest Lucid drivers. Actually I've tried several different Lucid drivers and the issue remains

It's not a HandBrake bug so there's very little we can do about it.

Try the description in this link, it worked for me without virtueMVP.

Ok thanks. I guess I'll resort to trying that Windows fake monitor hack instead of Lucid

Let me ask this. In another forum post you mentioned just adding handbrakecli.exe to use iGPU. That does resolve the issue with handbrake gui but you lose the option to enable QSV in video settings. Given that, will it work or do you have to in fact add both handbrake.exe and the cli.exe to use iGPU?

Both have to be added for iGPU mode. It used to be only the CLI but that is no longer the case since the GUI uses libhb now for certain functions

I've had no luck using Virtu with both handbrake.exe and handbrakecli.exe added to their app list. I've gone back to the fake display, which works fine. Lucidlogix directly supports Cyberlink and Arcsoft encoding products, I wish they'd take the time to add direct support for Handbrake.

Note that using the MediaEspresso profile for HandBrake reportedly works, though I haven't tested this myself.

What do you mean exactly? Change handbrake.exe filename to mediaespresso.exe?

No, I meant in Virtu MVP (or maybe is was the NVIDIA desktop driver, I'm not 100% sure).

Virtu MVP doesn't have profiles, it has supported applications. Each entry has to point to the app's .exe file. You can add new apps, but you always get a warning that the app is not supported and may not work right.

I did one of the support ticket things to lucid around a few months ago when i realized that OpenCL (QSV Decoding) was going to go mainstream.

They did actually respond and said they will look into it for the future. I'm sure this is something they could actually fix quite easy if they just turned they're attention to it. But getting just one email (support request) from one person isn't exactly a great motivator....

the best thing we all can do is keep on them together and make them get onto this....

the other hack with the monitors has been around for quite some time, but it does cause havoc with the mouse for many people, also for me, my browsers started acting quite weird when scrolling.... and games is a no no, because the top right corner doesn't really exists any more.... this will lead to issues for many apps... but if you're someone who doesn't mind turning this feature on and off as and when it's needed, then this hack works wonder!!

Just remember to switch this hack back off when not needed, because it will cause weird issues with many things.... you'll soon see LOL

Last time I checked, OpenCL != QSV decoding ;-) :P

Top right corner? There is no need for this, you could move the secondary monitor to any corner you want. Also I haven't seen the issues you described, never had this.

Lucid has fixed the issues with Handbrake in their newest release, 3.0.108. See: http://www.lucidlogix.com/driverdownloads-mvp2.shtml

Cool. Are there release notes mentioning HB specifically?
