Application title and Windows menu entries mismatch

Post by kurtunderhay »

Hello

I recently installed HandBrake 0.9.8 and I noticed that, while the title of the application window when you run it is "HandBrake" (note camel caps), the entry created in the Windows Start Menu is "Handbrake", in a folder called "Handbrake". Similarly, the application is installed in a folder called "C:\Program Files\Handbrake", which folder variously contains items called "Handbrake" or "HandBrake".

While this is mostly a cosmetic issue, one (minor) functional issue does arise. If a user pins the Start Menu item to the taskbar, a button titled "Handbrake" is created. When the application is started using this button, the program icon doesn't stack over the pinned button, rather a new button with the same icon is created; I imagine this is due to the mismatch in naming.

May I suggest that the branding convention is decided and applied standardly?
