Deinterlacing

Post by Wiki »

I have an interlaced DVD, and i want to convert to an mkv encoded as h.264 without interlacing.
I have tried with high profile, but using deinterlacing, decomb and detelecine (only one option each time)
Result is not interlaced but not completly smooth. Without those filters, video is interlaced but smooth.
I am basic user, and maybe i have not the right configuration.

Here is the activity log:

Re: Deinterlacing

The only deinterlacing/decombing filter that will produce results as smooth as broadcast quality video for true video sources (shot with video cameras, not film cameras) is the "bob" filter. It produces progressive 60fps (North America) or 50fps (Europe/Australia) video with that characteristic smooth "video look". Everything else destroys the temporal resolution of true video sources and you wind up with a quasi "film look" video at only 30fps progressive.
