How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
I recorded a TV show using my PC tuner card. The recording was about 100 minutes long. Since the program had no adds I used VideoReDo3 to trim off start & end & create a 95 minute MPEG2 file. When I opened the file in HB I noticed that it said the program was 17hours & 40 minutes long. Even though I knew something was seriously wrong I told it to encode anyway just to see what would happen. I ended up with a serious error & a log report. I tried pasting the log onto this email but I end up with a message the I can only have 1000000 caracters in an email & this posting had the log to this posting has ovr 1800000. How can I send the log? Would just the start & end bit be OK?
Any idea where the error occurred & can it be fixed? How do I prevent it happening again.

You can either post the log to a pastebin site (we have our own) or ideally you can trim some of the repeated errors from the log to allow it to fit.

Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
Actually I had .96 installed the first time I tried this encode. So I tried going back to .95 but the results were the same. I forgot to mention that in my first post.
Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
In VideoRedo, run it through "Quickstream Fix" first before trimming and saving as mpeg-2.
See if that helps; it will make your file PS-friendly.

Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
The Quick stream cop didn't work. I suppose the problem must lie with either Windows or VideReDo becaue files ripped from DVD's will encode OK. It appears to only be the opes recorded by PC tuner card that creates problems. Perhaps the PC tuner cars software has a problem?
Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
I'm pretty sure the fault isn't with VRD. I use it a couple of times every week to prep PVR files (of different types) for HB and have seen nothing as unusual as you describe.
Post your original file's properties using MediaInfo -- it may give some clues.

Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
I see that there is a new version of Mediainfo today which I have downloaded & installed. You ask for the file's original properties. Which tab do you mean. I haven't see a log facility in this application?
Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
You right-click on the file icon and select MediaInfo from the context menu.

Re: How does 95 minute program grow to over 17 hours?
Nothing unusual about your file. It's generic mpeg-2 like you'd find on a dvd.
Sorry I can't be of further help.
