HandBrake mp4 as default Extention?

Post by Kyruss »

Hello,

is there a way to get HB to use .mp4 as Fileextention as deafult?
At the Options I unchecked the [] Always use the iPod/iTunes friendly fileextention (.m4v) for mp4

If I habe changed it once I startet HB in the Outputstring, then it stays there for the rest of the Session, but on the next Restart......

I always have to change the extention by hand, it is not that big deal, but it would be nice not to have to....

Did you try saving it as a new preset?

Post an activity log. This business of .mp4 changing to .m4v was something that used to happen if you had selected AC3 in an mp4 container, but that was a long time ago. Posting an activity log would clear this up.

https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/Containers

The nightlies give a finer control over this, allowing you to always use one or the other, or let it automatically set (like it currently does with the option disbaled)

Hey guys.. I am using handbrake 0.9.5 for windows. I would like to set it to use .mp4 instead of .m4v extension. I have looked over the forum and wiki
cant find a clear answer.. It says in the wiki that you can change that in preferences. Does that mean Options? Well I already have always use m4v unchecked.. I have to manually change the extension to mp4 to get my phone to read it.. very annoying...

Here is my Activity Log.

If your phone doesn't support them, disable chapters. The M4V suffix is selected if your encode contains embedded chapters, AC3 audio or soft subtitles to ensure playback support under Quicktime and the various iDevices.

I believe the nightly builds may have an option to force the MP4 suffix regardless.
