Post by MDavis »

So i have this .m4v file i picked English subs i want them to always show up (ill be watching this on a touch pro2 so i don't have ability to turn subs off and on. i tried to burn them in but it didnt show up when i got it back in. I noticed I dont have the SRT file or anything tht the files re coming from they appear to be a part of the file (I can turn them on or off in vlc no problem). What am I doing wrong i have posted my activity log below.

Unfortunately, Handbrake does not support burning in text based subtitles. You'll need to use the original DVD to access the vobsub subtitles.

No. SRT is also a text based subtitle.

I use ClownBD to extract the subtitle tracks (SRT I think) - then BDSup2Sub to convert them to IDX. Then use mkvmerge to re-mux the audio, video, idx subtitles and chapters - Handbrake can see the subtitles in the merged mkv when finished and burn them in as needed.

Use BDSup2Sub to extract forced only - if that's all your looking to burn in (I think the forced flag may be lost when using BDSup2Sub - so just create a subtitle track of forced subtitles and burn in the whole thing)

SRT subs are a text file. Vobsubs are a graphical file. In order to convert from vobsub to srt you have to use an optical character recognition program. If you don't remember doing that(and trust, you would remember), then the sub file created was not an srt.

Also, ClownBD does not have and OCR module.
