[SSA error] unable to hardcode subtitles into video

Hi there,

Not sure if this has been covered before, but I did trawl the forums to check before posting.
My apologies if it has been dealt with in another thread.

I am attempting to hardcode .Ass subtitles into a video using the "Normal Profile". Under the subtitles tab I checked the "Burned In" option; in another attempt I checked both the "Burned In" and "Default" settings. The error only occurs in this batch of videos and not in other videos I've transcoded, which work perfectly.

Trouble is, the subtitles do not show up completely in the finished video, when played in Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or VLC.

Could you be more specific?

Ideally, could you provide screencaps of (1) a frame from the original source file that displays a subtitle and (2) approximately the same frame in the HandBrake output file that shows the incorrectly rendered subtitle.

Your MKV does not have an embedded font. SSA burn-in is known to often (probably always) fail under Windows if there isn't any font file embedded in the input file.
