Decomb ineffective?

Post by jtfine »

I noticed most "special feature" items from any dvd/BD appear to be interlaced, with ugly combing. I've tried both the deinterlace and decomb filters, neither of which has produced a clean result.

-The deinterlace (slowest) looks smudged and distorted.
-The decomb filter (set to Default) removed most of the combing, but leaves very visible combing artifacts around the edges of all motion. It does not look like the nice clean examples shown here: https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/Decomb

Am I using it wrong, or is that the best it can do?

Thanks!

Here's a screenshot + log. But this is not a specific case. It does the same thing for any interlaced source I use.
