convert to mp4

Post by dkeith38 »

9.5 will only convert my movies in m4v, how do I switch it to encode to mp4 format?

m4v is mp4.

It's simply a different file extension for the exact same file.

It's always set if you have AC3/DTS audio, SRT Subtitles or chapter markers.
IF you disable the preference in options, it'll use MP4 if none of the above are present.

Either way, you can simply rename the file if you need to, but there shouldn't be any reason for doing so unless your player has some kind of issue with the m4v extension.

In fact you don't even have to wait for the file to convert to rename it. What I usually do when I use the GUI is in the output file name I change the .m4v to .mp4, then I start the conversion.
