How to embed subtitles in HandBrake

Post by BRUNO_VAZ »

Hello...i'm trying to embed or rendering the subtitles srt onto the video track permanently on mp4 output file...so it can be streamed online to youtube...

but when i preview the video on my windows media player...the subtitles dont appear...it is something wrong?...how can i do this?

by the way....excelent program...i think it is the best program in quality and size file....i like the megui modern media encoder too but it's hard to use it...i give up with megui....this handbrake it very easy to work with.

Or an alternative could be to upload the SRT file to YouTube directly as a caption track. Unless the whole point is that it always needs to be visible.

Since I don't wanna open antoher 3d, I'll ask my question here..
I'm trying to convert an .mkv in .mp4, with permanent subtitles on (I've got an .srt file)

But in the Subtitle tab of Handbrake, when I load my external .srt, I can't check the "Burned In" box.. why??? I've tried with some other .srt files, same result..
Here it is a screenshot of what I've got:

Because currently Handbrake can only burn in vobsub subtitles from DVD sources. To hardsub from an SRT would require a resolution independent, cross platform font rendering library.

It can certainly pass through SRT files (as SRT to MKV, as tx3g to MP4). The only thing it can't do is burn them in the video.

Yeah, I guess we might as well give up on making incremental progress on features just quit all development right now.

I've managed to get soft subtitles working, even on the iPod. But I'd still like to know the best way to get hard subtitles working.

HandBrake cannot burn-in text-based subtitles at present. It may or might not be implemented in the future. There's nothing more to be said.
