handbrake doesn't encode dvd rips

Post by monkman2112 »

handbrake 0.9.4
Vista 32bit
dvbt-t records got encoded with handbrake.i ripped one title with dvdfab from dvd which doesn't.
handbrake stops instantly, rather than encoding. i don't know why. under linux it was fine. is there a problem with libdvdread?

Thanks!

Re: handbrake doesn't encode dvd rips

Post by Bling2Ming »

DVDFAB 6 seems to have a habit of mangling one title rips more frequently than version 5 seemed to.

You could try running FixVTS http://www.videohelp.com/tools/FixVTS

Load the first VOB of the ripped DVD then use the Full DVD button. Then try HandBrake again on the VIDEO_TS folder.

I have had some success with FixVTS on flakey main title rips from DVDFab and other rippers but not every time.

FixVTS also runs fine under wine on linux.

Re: handbrake doesn't encode dvd rips

Post by Kallyfudge »

Having a similar problem, this is one ive already put through handbrake succesfully however now when I tell it to start rip it will open and close the command window extremely fast and no errors pop up. Im using the high fidelity and regular settings both give the same result. It was decoded by DVDdecrypter, this problem seems to have started since i tried to use DVDFab but its the same with all my TS files from DVD decrypter, even ones that have been through handbreak already.

EDIT: This is using Vista 64 bit

@Kallyfudge

Your problem is different. Start a new topic.

Having said that, because I'm feeling nice today....

You are writing to the C drive using Vista. This won't work.

Code: Select all

MP4ERROR: MP4Open: failed
ERROR: muxmp4.c: MP4Create failed!
Are you running Handbrake as an administrator (even if your username is administrator the UAC will prevent some activities)? I'm assume not.

Save it to your My Documents folder and then move it wherever you want from there.

FYI: Running any computer with an administrative account as your regular login is bad. Don't do it. Use a regular user account, and then give UAC permissions/login as admin when required by Vista.

Many thanks ascianti!

Tried again and its working fine, cheers also for the extra advice!
Was not running properly as administrator, and I will change accounts. High profile mode is awesome, and it runs on my ps3!!
