Rip done!
HandBrake has exited.

 ############ End of Log ##############
Basically I was using a modified "Apple Universal" profile from the previous snapshot and that could output a file that could sync to my iPod classic 80GB, but in this latest snapshot it won't sync. Admittedly I've only tried one film, but I'll try more tomorrow, just giving a heads up.

Thanks.

HandBrake SVN2773 Snapshot wrote: x264 bumped from 1169 to 1195, which means new default settings (see r2742 commit comment).
You'll just have to adapt the x264 options in your preset.

I've tried not to mess about with the settings too much, just modified the new Apple Universal Profile to work. But unfortunately iTunes doesn't appear to be recognising the MKV or MP4 containers. :(

iTunes doesn't support MKV. It does support MP4 though.

Please provide an encode log for your new MP4 encode.

iTunes / QuickTime don't like files with chapters or AC3 audio when the extension is .mp4

Since mp4 == m4v, you can just rename the file. No re-encode necessary.
There is an option in the program options to always use m4v.

s55 pointed out on IRC that the .mp4 extension may cause iTunes to not accept the video at all, and that you should use .m4v instead. Plus, you'll want to use that extension anyway since iTunes and Apple devices won't recognize chapters or AC3 tracks without it.

Also, since you seem to be encoding from your optical drive, I assume you're using software like AnyDVD to decrypt the DVD?

Edit: And, of course, s55 posted while I was formatting my post :-)

lol @ rodeo! ;)

Thing is, Handbrake has only the MKV and MP4 carriers, M4V doesn't exist anymore. I tried renaming the MKV carrier to M4V, I'll try renaming the MP4 carrier to M4V later. Thanks guys. :)

M4V doesn't exist anymore.
It still exists. It should set automatically, however it wasn't doing so for AC3 audio in the last snapshot. Fixed now.

Also, There is an option to always use m4v in the program options (when mp4 is used)

Ahh, great one! Thanks for that mate. :D

Bugger! Found a bug I think. :S

Right, using the standard "Apple Universal" and having the M4V checkbox selected, it automatically gives it the M4V extension. But! If you save that profile as a separate one it reverts back to MP4. :(

By creating my own profile I can't get it to output M4V.

For now will I just need to change the MP4 extension of the encoded file to M4V once it has finished?
