Trying to convert to MPEG-2

Post by dingycrypt »

Description of problem or question:
Hello! I'm trying to convert some mp4 vids to MPEG-2 so I can burn it onto some DVDs but I can't seem to figure out how to. It just keeps converting to a m4v

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Changed the video to MPEG-2 but when encoding, converted to m4v

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.3.3

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Windows 10

You can manually override the output file naming convention.

Or, you could have your DVD authoring software do its own conversion, because it will need to put it into a VOB container anyway - handbrake doesn't write VOBs.

For clarity: Your log shows you did infact encode to mpeg-2. m4v/mp4 is NOT mpeg-4. mp4 is a container of video in which you can put video of different formats.

Nothing HandBrake outputs can produce a DVD. You'd need DVD authoring software to take the output and convert it into the appropriate structure.
