Problem with hardcoding subtitles

Description of problem or question:
When I hardcode subtitles to mp4 using .srt files usually the output file has a problem with the subtitles. The last 2 characters are often missing (but not in every line)




Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):





HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

latest version currently being used but have also had same issue with older versions


Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):


have experienced the problem with win 7 and win 10

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Gee, if we had an activity log, we could see if there were issues with the encode... Like incorrect character set selection.
