What happens if bitrate will cause > 4gig file?

how will the CLI react if I do not use the -4 option but choose a bitrate that would normally create a file larger than 4 gig?
  1. Does HB automatically reduce the bitrate to stay within 4g?
  2. Does it create a file > 4 gig?
  3. Does it just "stop" at 4 gig?
  4. Or some other possibility I haven't thought of?
I realize that I can just do it and find out, but I'm working with a slow machine atm and I'd like to know without tying up the machine for 3 hours, so I'm hoping someone can fill me in.
