Crop not applying to HEVC in CLI

I am attempting to reencode UHD BluRay remux files. The original source material is in an mkv container with h265 Main 10 video format. The issue I am having is that I want to crop the video (all UHD BluRay is 3840x2160 regardless of the viewable format) to remove the wasted black bars. HandbrakeCLI detects the proper crop, but then doesn't apply it. The GUI will detect and apply the crop. I am using Windows 10 1903 with HandbrakeCLI. I tested both 1.2.2 and some nightlies. The objective is to retain the general codec format of the original video track, crop off the unused space, and reduce size while maintaining (what I might view as) a visually lossless reduction in file size.

My cli command is handbrakecli --format "av_mp4" --no-markers --optimize --align-av --previews 25:0 --encoder "x265_10bit" --width "3840" --crop --non-anamorphic --modulus "2" --no-hqdn3d --no-nlmeans --no-deblock --encoder-preset "medium" --encoder-profile "main10" --encoder-level "5.1" --quality "20" --rate "30" --pfr --color-matrix "2020" --start-at "duration:1800" --stop-at "duration:60" --first-audio --audio-lang-list eng --aencoder "av_aac" --ab "640" --mixdown "5point1" --normalize-mix "0" -I testfilein -o testfileout. I am only using duration settings for testing purposes so I don't have to wait 8 hours every time I tweak a setting.

What am I doing wrong in the cli?

The documentation is somewhat unclear or possibly misleading, but auto-crop is on by default. By specifying --crop without arguments, you're basically telling HandBrake to encode with a crop of 0:0:0:0, if I am not mistaken. If you remove --crop from your arguments, it should work as intended.

You are a genius and clearly more literate than I. I won't disclose how long I spent working on this issue before resorting to forum support...

However, you are also correct that I read the CLI guide to mean that in the absence of the "--crop" flag there would be no crop applied, that when parameters are defined it is a specific crop, and the default crop when only the flag is used without any trailing parameters is an automatic crop. On the outside chance others interpret the guide the same as I did, a clarification may be necessary... or it may just be me.

Regardless, thank you for your assistance and to all the developers for this excellent program I have used for a decade. I did make it this far without needing help, so that's something.
