I have an extensive collection of Blu-rays and DVDs, and use MakeMKV and HB nightly to produce MP4 format files.
Alas, I have just discovered that the MakeMKV Blu-ray rips I have been transcoding into MP4 files using the nightly HB have subtitles burned-in, which I do not want.
I confess to not reading the manual, and now realise why HB does this with PGS subtitles and MP4 format files.
Although I would have thought the 'burn' option would be disabled unless I have used the
Code: Select all
--subtitle-burned
Anyway...
I use MakeMKV on Blu-rays and some Disney DVDs, while I use HB directly on the other DVDs.
So, while I go back and re-rip all the Blu-ray discs I have done so far (sigh), I would like to ask if I can keep the following command line which I use...
Code: Select all
INPUT="/tmp/title00.mkv" # tune = film
OUTPUT="/home/paully/2001 A Space Odyssey (1968).mp4"
X264TUNE="film"
/usr/local/bin/HandBrakeCLI --input "${INPUT}" --main-feature --maxWidth 1280 --maxHeight 720 --crop 0:0:0:0 --markers --x264-preset slow --x264-tune "${X264TUNE}" --audio 1,1 --aencoder faac,ac3 --ab 160,384 --subtitle-lang-list eng --all-subtitles --output "${OUTPUT}"
What do other people do when using MakeMKV and HandBrakeCLI together?
Thanks in advance.
