Agreed - AppleScript is the way forward! If you have even basic scripting skills, it's pretty easy to customise a script to your own workflow and make sure you input the minimum data. FYI This might have changed with the most recent release of iTunes, but these scripts you are talking about, they d...

...I actually didn't get ANY of my movies or TV shows disc to show 23.976. I tested The Office, 24, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force and then for movies Blood Diamond, The Departed, and Stranger Than Fiction. I guess what I'm trying to ultimately find out is which framerate is more prevalent and what I s...

Well, it looks like the bottom line then is use same as source, since I'm ripping movies, which brings me back to the initial problem Glor Not all 'movies' are 23.976 (esp. older ones '30s, '40s), but anyway. I have not seen any blurring on my ATV. Sometimes I will get some stuttering during high a...

Can you play this folder with the DVD player on your computer?sunspot wrote:Well, I tried DVD2One (trial version), and it did a great job of at least creating the single movie only type folder.
However, when I then try to read this video_ts file with handbrake, it finds no titles to rip.
Any help there?

I had the exact same issue with The Rock and after DTOX it works... The Rock (first edition) has a known mastering problem (read about it on the web years ago), something to do with the layer change. Some DVD players could not even play it. I could never get a good backup copy of it on DL disc. The...

You may have to resort to some less technical means to make this work. Got a DVD/VCR combo? No, I don't. And the word VCR gives me a headache. I have already spent way too much time on these episodes. I think I will cut my losses and move on to my other discs. Seasons 1-4 gave me no problems. Seaso...

I use ffmpegX, just drop a VOB file into it and it will give you the frames per second. But, you must be careful; sometimes the first VOB file in the set will start out at 29.9 (studio logo, etc) but will then drop to 23.9 for the actual movie. So I usually drop a VOB file from the middle of the set.

Mastering ‘errors’ prevent encoding
Just thought I’d share this in case others are having problems encoding from certain discs. To make a long story short, I am unable to completely encode certain episodes of Voyager. It appears there is a mastering ‘error’ in some of the VOBs that prevent an episode to encode entirely. MTR full disc ...

I can only suggest that you determine your fps and set it yourself, don't use ‘same as source’. A long time ago (Sep '06) I encoded some South Park for my iPod using ‘same as source’ and they would not transfer. Went back and set the fps myself and they transferred. The problem is that it was so lon...

This might be due to timecode breaks. For MPEG Streamclip to encode certain VOBs it has to correct these breaks. My previous 'trick' for working out the duration of stream quickly was to compare the first and last Presentation Time Stamp for the first Video Stream. This seems pretty reliable for br...

DVD2oneX can merge DVD titles together. You don't want to re-encode when using QuickTime, have it passthrough the video and audio. I don't see a problem with .mov files, they are compatible with the iPod and AppleTV. Non-Apple products might have a problem with them though. Take note that DVD specia...

I've updated the patch referred above so that it correctly handles lengthy files (like VOBs 8-). It also now opens .VOB/.vob suffix files - no need to rename them. There is however an apparent bug with the duration calculation code - it seems for many VOBs (other than perhaps little chapter extract...
