Re: Webm support
Not for playing back movies or archiving, if you just need it for your PC, but for putting them on your website and stuff it is quite useful. I don't know really userfriendly programs that would allow exporting in webm. (I don't think FFMPEG is enduserfriendly) Talking about putting videos on your w...

Re: Webm support
Well, I just read John's recent review of the current status of VP9 He wants to implement as well/is interested in it. The problem is that it is still too slow. Quoting him Multicore encoding has been disabled 1 year ago as well, but that was just the last statement about it he found. Quality-wise i...

Webm support
What do you think about supporting a 3rd container format in the future: Webm? http://www.webmproject.org/docs/container/ It might not be as good as MKV or MP4 or as widely spread like they are but Webm will stay like this forever if there is no interest in it. A new good transcoders for it could ar...

Re: add 10bit
just read an article about Samsungs new SUHD series:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio- ... 921/review
the tvs with suhd are not only using quantum dots to increase color accuracy but most importantly support 10bit colors natively

Re: Intel QuickSync for Mac OS X?
Quick Sync is only faster for certain (faster) settings. It's only for average users.
But x264 is superior in many ways. I guess that Intel might not be interested in offering the APIs for Mac OSX because these devices have enough power to not need them -> the CPU is faster anyway

Re: Make x264 1st pass not run audio encoding thread
what about now ^^ the release is out, if some devs are interested they are able to work on it now (just saying, depends on their interest of course) this will definitely also shorten the encode time for other choosen audio codecs (not just aacfdk), so it is helpful for everyone who uses average bitr...

Re: Restore libmkv and mp4v2
have you tested baseline profil and low settings? I'm not sure why mp4 might not work work but there are some reasons why mkv might not be working: maybe it helps to use mkvtoolnix and remux the mkv file to a lower mkv profil (since your tv seems to be a bit older it probably doesn't support the new...

Re: Installer needs to check for OS versions.
just update your OS, nobody should be using XP anymore anyways...
I'm not a dev, so I cannot fix it
I know this comment might beunproductive
but at least I can tell you that there is probably no dev here that is interested in implementing, testing or even merging such a commit

Re: add 10bit
it only adds air if the source is 8bit
if the source is 10bit then it keeps more information (more then just 8bit)
if you don't want to keep it to save space, then you can use 8bit of course
but converting 8 to 10bit doesn't make much sense as said before

Re: NLMeans denoise filter
The current NLMeans implementation is based on the FFMPEG code that was committed by Dirk Farin the link to his website was in the first post of this thread: http://dirk-farin.net/projects/nlmeans/index.html at the end there are two references as far as I know he has asked the patent holders for per...

Re: Upscaling 480P to 720P
one comment on my side from this: of course you cannot get the original quality but if the interpolation looks good or even better then bobbing should work just fine and comparing the videos i see that 720p doesn't have an increase in resolution in comparison to 360p, but that wasn't the purpose - t...

Re: Upscaling 480P to 720P
@musicvid thx for explaining Bob!!!
I found no information about it on the internet, yet.
Could you add it to the deinterlace/decomb guides pls, so that everyone knows, what it is for?
I thought it was something like placebo just for decomb before you explained it...

Re: NLMeans denoise filter
So for the legal aspect: If I would start working on an open-cl version of it and would only base it on the GPL licensed NLMeans code, then I wouldn't need to ask the patent holders/wouldn't have any legal issues?

Re: multiple *.ts files into one file
easy version: like JohnAStebbins
including corrections: use the TS Doctor or a similar tool to merge, check/fix and cut the file
if you don't need corrections and want to convert to mkv at the same time: mkvtoolnix (add file one and append the other ones to it -> create one mkv from the recording)

ok that's enough for me
just looked to me as if this thread got ignored after I posted further details...
definitely not a top priority, just wanted to support the development by posting a problematic file
can I delete the input file from file-upload.net now or do you need to download it still?
