Same issue, same machine (Quad G5) VLC 1.0.3 seems to work fine with HB 0.9.3 though.
Anyone....anyone...Bueller...Bueller....?
EDIT: Short answer is don't download the PPC version, download the Universal Binary version. Works fine with 0.9.4 on my Quad G5.

Re: Handbrake Shuts Mac Pro Down
Would it be an overheating issue if it doesn't shut down while I'm working on it while it's burning? It's only when I leave the computer and don't use it all during the process does it shut down. What would I tell the Apple Store?Would I bring in a DVD and show them? Yes, it may very well be an ove...

Re: How to convert DVD to .avi
VLC is required with HB 0.9.3 on the Mac. It's a fairly small app, is free and you can always ditch-it when you are done.
If that is too hard for you then you should look elsewhere for an app that fits your needs.

Re: completed handbrake, but file will not open/play
My version of TCON: Prince Caspian seems to play but some of the chapters appear out of order. Has anyone else experience this issue? It's probably becasuethe title you chose was not the actual movie. This one was done just like WALL-E. Anyone know what the right title on the disc is? As near as I ...

Re: Walle-Scenes out of order and some missing
Yeah, there is a forum issue, but if you simply search for "WALL", the results desired come up (I know, that required a whole 10 seconds worth of thought on my part). That is how I found numerous posts about track 30 being the correct one. Hi, How do we find out which title you are suppose...

Do a search.
Rip title 30 on the DVD, it's the actual movie.

Re: Thanks!
Ya know, that is an interesting idea. Rhester, since you guys don't take donations, maybe giving to an agreed up charity (or charities) would be nice. It would certainly be original if nothing else.

Re: Can i eject the disk after handbrake starts its process?
Unless you have already copied the DVD to your Hard Drive, the disc must remain in the DVD drive. You can queue multiple DVDs, but you have to have multiple CD/DVD drives, unless, again, you copy the DVDs to your Hard Drive first. This is why I have 4 DVD drives connected to my Mac.

Re: HandBrake 0.9.3: Released!
I was somewhat skeptical about 9.3 and using the library from VLC. I finally had time to rip a few movies I had sitting around last night and WOW, am I impressed! The whole thing is smooth and the overall quality seems greatly improved. From a purely personal perspective this is the first time I did...

Ren & Stimpy Season 1 & 2, Disc 1.
DTOX wouldn't do it, DVD Remaster wouldn't do it and DVD player on the Mac won't even read it. Even with FairMount none of them worked.

The Pink Floyd Pulse DVD Set also crashes. I ran MacTheRipper on the DVD and it worked without issue. I'm attempting to extract the Video using Toast. Unfortunately, the verbose log is lost when it crashes, so I cant post it here. -Version: Version 0.9.2 (2008021900) -Date of download...

Successful rip of Underworld: Evolution with the following: Handbrake svn1477 AnyDVD 6.4.5.0 Please take Underworld:Evolution off the list. People really need to figure out if the problem is with Handbrake or their decrypter before posting titles here that "can't rip". Example of a DVD th...

Re: READ ME / POST HERE if a specific DVD/Movie won't rip
Did you rip it to the drive first or just rip it from the DVD? Right from the drive. I'm also using 9.2 and have not downloaded a build in some months. Well that's a mistake. Ok, so you used a 3rd party app to get it to the HDD first, which may have helped. Even FairMount says there are bad sectors...

Re: READ ME / POST HERE if a specific DVD/Movie won't rip
Did you rip it to the drive first or just rip it from the DVD? It KP'd my Quad twice at about 95% complete directly from the DVD. The Fact that DVD2OneX said it was protected struck me as odd, and I refuse to use MTR anymore until they stop the shakedown process for a "free" product. I'm a...

Re: READ ME / POST HERE if a specific DVD/Movie won't rip
Trying to rip the new Futurama Movie "The Beast With A Billion Backs". It caused a KP on my Quad G5 twice just using HB. I no longer have/use MTR and DVD2OneX won't read it. Fairmount/DVDRemaster seems to be working. I'm just ripping it directly to iPod format with DVDRemaster vice saving ...

Re: Mac vs PC
The Mac version has the open source decryption library built in. Now, I'm not a Dev, but as I understand it said Open Source Library is not available on the Windows side, so a separate decryptor is needed. This is neither new nor likely to change, ever.

Re: How to add movie ratings to iTunes....
I've used both Lostify and MetaX and MetaX wins hands down. The ability to queue up multiple files to be tagged all at once is plus. The down side is that MetaX doesn't use the lock function that Lostify does (I've asked for this from the MetaX folks btw).
On a side note, tag chimp is a POS.
