As I understand it, this would be difficult - the current pause function would not scale to this. It's certainly something a lot of people would want, though (pretty sure it's been requested a few times before). I believe if you sleep the computer - with HB still open - you can still resume when it ...

The absolute easiest way would be to simply turn off Widescreen on the iPod (I assume it's still an option) - that will zoom in on the centre of the movie till it fills the screen. Then you can keep the movie in its proper dimensions, for when you want to watch it on your PC for example.

Why is there a 169 in the title when the movie is really 2.35:1? I don't recognise what you're playing that back in. Is it possible that 16:9 is a mistake, and the black bars don't really exist - it's just in the thumbnail? I've seen black bars added to thumbnails before to compensate for the inter...

Re: anamorphic regular aspect ratio and usage

My issue wasn't with the length of time for importing Using H.264 produces a file that iMovie seems to ruminate on endlessly, without converting You mentioned it, I addressed it. Please don't give me advice about 'widescreen' video. That is not an issue here. Then why on earth were you selecting an...

Your movie is unlikely to be 16:9, but your TV is. The movie is highly likely to be wider than this, and hence shorter on your TV. You've probably got your TV (or your DVD player) set up to horribly stretch movies. You will need to set your TV up to do this with whichever input you are using, too, ...

That's very strange, I've never heard of it failing without a warning before. Makes me think it's an iTunes bug. How about stuff that you've copied over before - if you delete it and try to re-copy it to the device, does that work fine? Ok, finally. I know this is insulting your intelligence, but it...

Try turning on manual sync and copying it over. If it copies, it means you've not got it selected for your iPod in iTunes - one way or another.

Re: anamorphic regular aspect ratio and usage

However, if I use 'anamorphic' in the picture settings, when I import it into iMovieHD it becomes 'pillared' or squished from either side to a narrow band in the center of the screen. iMovie obviously can't handle anamorphic video, then. When I select 'preserve aspect ratio, the pixel dimensions dr...

awkwardtv.org. It may void your warranty, even if you use the non-opening-the-box hack... I believe the first step is installing ssh on it and everything flows from there, but I could be wrong. I don't have one, myself.

1. Please, please read the HandBrake Guide, it answers stuff like this. H.264 is much better.

2. QuickTime deficiency. Hack your ATV and install Perian? That is beyond the scope of this forum though.

3. Hack it. Or remux to mp4. Again, beyond the scope of this forum really.

If you detelecine you shouldn't need to deinterlace, as it reconstructs whole frames. Detelecine is preferable to deinterlace, but only works on material that has been "hard telecined". (Soft telecining is automagically dealt with by HB.) Google is your friend, and trial-and-error is your ...

MacTheRipper, or one of the other rippers, may be able to help strip the region coding out. Theoretically regioning shouldn't be a problem, but in practice I've found it often is.

Ah. The "latest version" isn't 0.8.5b1, it's 0.9.0. That should help some of this make sense. ;)
