It should have come with your machine. If it came with only one disc, insert it, restart the machine and hold down the "D" key. The machine will boot and run the test. If it fails, you'll know.
If the machine came with 2 discs, it'll be the one that isn't the software install DVD.

Re: Downgrade Back to v0.9.3
My custom presets are pretty simple and are tailored to give me the best quality and still maintain the most compatibility. I don't have an ATV yet, but that will be changing shortly and I'd like to know what I need to go back and re-rip with 0.9.3 to get ATV to look good again.... baggss, what exa...

Re: Downgrade Back to v0.9.3
So am I understanding that anything ripped that didn't use the ATV Preset (when ripped with 0.9.4) will look bad on an ATV then? Well, the built in presets in 0.9.4 are updated accordingly. hb will disable weightp on any baseline preset automatically ( read ipod/iphone and universal presets ) . It ...

Re: Downgrade Back to v0.9.3
I too had to go back to 0.9.3. The movies do look good (Excellent) on the MAC (in iTunes and on QuickPlayer) but they all look terrible on the AppleTV (Very pixelated). That's caused by weighted p-frame prediction and will only happen if you don't use the AppleTV preset (which specifically disables...

I'm not sure about it's development status, but DVD2OneX is pretty darn good. It's not free mind you but it works well when I need it to.

Re: Handbrake Shuts Mac Pro Down
Burning DVDs has never killed my Quad, even when the CPU setting is ramped up. It's always been ripping. My impression, and observation, is that burning isn't as CPU intensive as ripping is. Burning a DVD doesn't peg all 4 CPUs and spike my temp (over 200F), ripping does.

Play it in DVD player and see what title is playing. That's the one you want to select in HB.

I'm assuming this was the case for the previous poster, but... Upon opening iDVD for Mac OSX 10.5.8, and hitting 'title' for this movie (obviously 'The Proposal' in case you're reading this and can't figure out the content of this thread like Teddy-boy did)... it shows 'Not Permitted'. When tried u...

When im choose the DVD in source, there sometimes will be 2, 3, 4 or even more title avaiable. Each title seems to be a part of the movie, but i wish to make the .mpv file in one file. Is that ...

The answer is: That's how it was designed/coded.AgentMax wrote: I would like to hear something like "1st pass is slower because..... and it have to be so slow" or something like that.
I don't understand the technical limitation for a faster 1st pass.

Re: 0.9.4 + MetaX Not Working
baggss you helped me figure it out --- the issue is certainly in the 'large file size'. I just converted Santa Buddies in 0.9.4 (32Bit) using version 1.02 of VLC, clicked on the AppleTV preset then unticked 'large file size' and everything tagged correctly in MetaX. Now that I got it working, I'll ...

Open it and put it in your Apps folder on your Mac.
Note: it MUST be in your Apps folder to work and it MUST be named VLC.

Re: 0.9.4 + MetaX Not Working
Well, I just ran some files through MetaX 2.6.4 that were ripped with 0.9.4 and they work fine in iTunes. Then again I'm on a Quad G5 and it's only working as 32 Bit (both HB and MetaX) so that is probably why.

So after spending all morning screwing with this, I tried the following: Closed iTunes and unmounted my iPod 5G. Reopened iTunes and remounted iPod 5G. No change. Restarted Mac. Both files now load just fine to the 5G. Go figure. I will now use my Mod stick and close my own thread, calling myself an...

As I recall the name stemmed from titer wanting to give his "hand a break" from the tediousness of using CLI and other manual tasks associated with ripping a DVD "back in the day".
