If you happen to be using Windows, a simple, free, no-installation way is using mp4box with YAMB and easily found through Google. (YAMB is a GUI for mp4box.) Just put both tools in the same directory and fire up YAMB. Go to the Extract tab and input your video. In the "Informations" box yo...

I hope I’m not off topic regarding this. I too am a believer that 2-pass has better quality than CRF given the same bitrate/file size. But CRF is great for determining this bitrate/file size beforehand more accurately for a given level of quality. So I'd obviously like to use both to optimize qualit...

If any Windows user has ever called out to the All-Mighty for a great H.264 encoder/GUI, their prayers will be answered with HandBrake.

Cheesy pun, but I couldn't resist:
HandBrake sure puts on the brakes to your search for an H.264 encoder/GUI!

Thanks to all the devs.

Well, the files it produces all play perfectly regardless of all that error/warning stuff it spat out while encoding.

So I guess if speed is still good and the files it produces all look good and play good, who cares then?

HandBrake works great for me then. Thanks! :D

Hey sr55, Other than a brief annoyance on my screen this doesn't cause me any difficulties because it always encodes the title all the way to 100% anyway without hindrance on speed either. Even though it may be CLI related, can I ask anyway? Should I be concerned with the final encoded file? I mean,...

Command prompt says "libdvdread" while encoding.

While HB is encoding I get this "error" or "warning": *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in nav_read.c:207 *** It continues to show in the command window about 300-400 times per task - about 3-4 times for every 1% it encodes, all the way to 100%. Yes, it does complete every task,...

I have a similar problem with 2.21 that I didn't have with 2.1. Yes, good idea to copy to the VIDEO_TS folder to the HD. It "works" now. However does it? The command prompt shows up as normal, but it's encoding it in fragments with about 4 errors for every 1%, yet the percentage completed ...

I used Nero’s .nrg format for the Disc Image File. If anybody knows about a conversion tool from .nrg to .iso that doesn’t suck, please post it. :D Anyhow, here's the Disc Image File: http://www.mediafire.com/?b3mzggymfby The Disc Image has 4 titles, but the first 3 are too small to be read apparent...

Hello again, I'm on my way to the office right now so I won't be able to test DVD43 or give you a sample till later on tonight, but I will be more than glad to give you one to help us both out. I can give you a small .iso or .nrg, no problem. I can use MediaFire, but if you have a preference of uplo...

DVD43. If it's a conflict with my decrypter let me know but I don't think so. None of my DvDs or disc images are commercial or encrypted or anything, only "home-made" from my PVR - just a couple of personal clips or some stuff from TV. These exact same discs and disc images worked fine on ...

Greetings. First post here so please be gentle. :D Thank you sr55 for bringing HandBrake, a slice of Apple application, to Windows. I absolutely love this tool! Version 2.1 Beta would have been PERFECT for my needs if it didn't lack the queue function. This is the only reason I downloaded version 2....
