What DVD is this? Are the problem episodes from the same DVD as the episodes that are working? What does iTunes say the dimensions are?

This might be an Intel/PPC issue. Are you using an Intel machine? I use a PPC.

Some DVDs can cause HB to freeze when scanning, although this is very rare. What DVD is it? What you really need is a new computer, HB should not be run on a G3.

It's been done, it's done well, not really sure why HB should do it.

HB could do it in one step and has the benefits of the queue.

I think iMovie actually imports the MP4, which means it converts it to DV. So, it might be better to use a program like MPEG Streamclip that will take the DVD video and convert it to DV, then you open that in iMovie. This way you are only compressing to MP4 once.
