Wrong tool. What I'd do is this...
1. Rip assets using the demux option on MTR to get the AC3 file, optionally splitting into chapters.
2. Convert the AC3 files using mAC3dec.
3. Convert to AAC/MP3/whatever using encoder of choice.

Re: wont work
Geez, thanks TedJ, its nice to see a user helping us out. I must have explained the 0.9.1 updater thing a thousand times by now. Its quite refreshing. :) Hey, it's no problem... although I think the announcement needs a title change to something like "Help! Source won't open! (0.9.1)" or ...
Re: wont work
A little more info would help... You say it's a new computer - how new exactly? I ask because the latest version (0.9.2) only works under the latest version of OS X (10.5 aka Leopard). If you're still running 10.4 (Tiger), which you will be if you purchased your new computer prior to late October la...

Users will not recognise solution
C'mon guys, it's not that hard... the updater in 0.9.1 is borked, which is causing the problem. 1. Uncheck "check for updates" in preferences. 2. Restart Handbrake. 3. Profit! :) I've only been hanging around here for a few days and am seeing this one come up AT LEAST 6 times a day. If it'...

Re: .9.2 xvid crash?
Yes, there is an issue with the xvid encoder that causes problems on Intel Macs. For the moment, I suggest you try using the ffmpeg encoder instead. That's what I'm doing with files for my Cowon D2. I don't wish to speak for the developers, but I believe there's a fix submitted for the xvid issue so...

Re: Mac 0.9.2 - XviD encodes not working
Knew that... I started browsing the dev forum (and checking the IRC logs) shortly after my initial post.
Seems there's a patch that may fix the issue, but there are concerns about cross-platform compatibility.

Re: 0.9.2 crash after encode form external drive
I normally rip to then encode from an external drive, and it has never been an issue for me.
BTW, you should find a copy of your last activity log in ~/Library/Application Support/Handbrake.

Re: If We Don't Have Leopard?!
Please stop, take a deep breath and read Dynaflash's post again... 0.9.1 DOES work, you just need to switch off "check for updates" as outlined in the announcement he mentioned and linked to.

Re: Xvid MP4 /AAC Crash in 9.2
Also, if you do revert to 0.9.1, you'll need to deactivate the "check for updates" option in preferences then restart HB... that'll fix the issue with the source selector blocking on you.

Re: AVI encodes audio but no video
Ouch. Any chance of this being fixed prior to the next release? 0.9.2 appears to be working fine for me in every other respect, but I'm kinda fond of XviD for encoding for my Cowon D2.dynaflash wrote:Confirmed that the xvid encoder is broken on 0.9.2 macintel. it works for PPC.

Re: README before suggesting a feature
I have a question about the feature "Soft subtitles (.srt or VobSub)" you are working on for the 1.0 release. Does it exist any other software to do this? To first rip the DVD in Handbrake and then make a softsub of a .srt file? Thanks! I believe that avidemux will create .srt and VobSub ...

Mac 0.9.2 - XviD encodes not working
I've made several attempts to use the latest release of Handbrake to create XviD AVIs for use on my portable player (a Cowon D2). Unfortunately this causes an immediate hard crash. Further research shows that attempting any XviD encode, regardless of audio or container type, also causes a crash. The...
