Re: DVD CC data stream input validation needed
To be clear, it's only the tx3g tag start/stops that are incorrect right? The write sample length is in still correct as bytes? What this means is that the HTML tag scanner (hb_muxmp4_process_subtitle_style()) needs to keep track of the byte position into the string separately from the length of the...

Re: [SVN 2829] Crash on encode using external .srt
The crash is in iconv. Which makes me think that either iconv is flaky in general, or is flaky when misconfigured wrt chr sets, or that HB isn't using iconv correctly. The fact that iconv is working for other folks makes me think that it is most likely an issue with incorrect chr sets causing iconv ...

Re: iTunes Extra....
It would be interesting to convert a DVD menu into an ITunes Extra folder. Not easy mind you. DVD menus tend to be short movies in a loop rather than a static page don't they? And there is the translation from DVD vm commands for the buttons to JavaScript, and mapping the correct titles to button pr...

Yeah - I'm very curious about this paying thing as well. I looked up the IP and he's in Australia, probably doesn't mean much though.

Re: How do I reload onto a new PC without having to pay again
Hi Scott,
Greetings, could you pm me Or post a link for where you obtained HandBrake from the first time? And any payment info that you may have made?
Cheers Ed.
Note that myself and Ted are also in Oz (at present).

if that is sarcasm it's a little nasty for dynaflash, careful.Da Man wrote:You now, if someone is re-skinning this thing and doing a relatively competent job on the OSX side of things, maybe Handbrake could employ him as the MacGUI guy. The dev team would finally have a solid foundation in that area.

Re: seperate black transparent windows
The issue here is compartmentalization. How often do you really have to do the task - and therefore should it be in the main window if you rarely need to do it. Ideally the main window should just cover what may change on a per title basis, with everything else moved out to other windows. Now you co...

Re: (SVN2829) Random Crashes
eddy, we'll get a bump pretty quickly after 0.9.4 is out the door. Bumping now would probably lead to a significant delay. We'd like to release 0.9.4 before the 1 year anniversary of 0.9.3 ;) Hi Scott, I don't think an ffmpeg bump is in order unless it actually fixes anything important, else it is ...

Re: (SVN2829) Random Crashes
Be aware that Handbrake although it appears to be a single application is in fact a load of glue that connects a number of other free software. Don't underestimate the effort involved in this glue though, as it is significant. What is important in this conversation is that the crash in HandBrake is ...

I wish my redundancy had lasted longer... I was back at work within 3 weeks. Where you house sitting, Eddy? :) Bannora point, NSW. FYI. I did try this once using hb, had a he'll of a time getting the parts to join together without video breakup. And yes I did ask for iframes at the join.
Gave up since it wasn't a big deal for me.

Well spotted and resolved, worked a charm. When my mate gets back from vanuatu he'll be happy. House sitting for him in Oz at the moment. No real hardship drinking beer in th pool :) (with iPhone handy of course) one of the advantages of redundancy is plenty of time to chill (would be easier without...

Re: adding subs
I see. Handbrake can't convert textual subs like SRT or CC into picture based ones like VOBSUBs. Also
neither AVI or MP4 support the embedding of selectable VOBSUBs.
So it's not doable using that route I'm afraid.
Cheers Ed.

Re: How to create soft subtitles in .m4v file container
m4v's only support textual soft subs, and DVDs only have picture subs (also known as VOBSUBs). So you need to somehow convert the pictures into text for HB to use (as an aside MKV supports VOBSUBs). If you are in region 1 (NTSC) *and* if you want English subs then you could also use the Closed Capti...

But can't extract the SRT file from an existing MKV, that will have do be done (for now) via another tool and then added back in as an external SRT file using a new version of HB.

This is an odd issue. I'm away from home for a while. However where I am this is also being observed on Snow Leopard. The Mac GUI is locating the mpeg file within the package, however the mpeg file isn't being opened. It would be handy to know if *anyone* is opening EyeTV files using HB on Snow Leop...

Re: AppleTV Preset
Short answer, no. The apple tv supports different resolutions and framerates for different video codecs. Also - x264 will give you a file a lot smaller than if you used mpeg4/ffmpeg. Let alone the fact that the ffmpeg produced file will look like crap in comparison. Don't do it. x264 - good quality,...
