Re: Viewing films in airplane mode.
To the best of my knowledge, there is absolutely no reason why a converted video would work only with WiFI active. Do you have the activity log for the conversion?

Re: m4v and mp4
Both those titles use a newer form of copy protection which the 0.9.9 release of HandBrake cannot handle. You can either pre-rip with something like MakeMKV or upgrade to a nightly build of HandBrake.

Re: Final video is fuzzy (noise) and audio skips
It's hard to tell without the start of the log, but what are you using to handle decryption? You'll either need to pre-rip to HDD (Mac DVDRipper Pro or MakeMKV are good options) or install libdvdcss from the VLC project.

Re: Tutorial on Converting TV Series to MP4?
Large file support needs to be selected if the output is likely to exceed 4 GB in size. We're moving to the libav mp4 muxer in the development code that handles this automatically.

Re: Non Anomorphic Picture Configuration
The purpose of modulus is to ensure that the pictures storage resolution is cleanly divisible by the selected value, it doesn't directly relate to pixel aspect ratio or anamorphic encoding. The old wisdom that mod16 was desirable as it aided in compression efficiency, although these days it's nowher...

Live preview does this already, as does encoding a single chapter or a time range in the source.

Re: Another 'Display Size' issue
I don't see a problem here... NTSC 4:3 material has a display size of 640x480.
I recommend reading HandBrake's guide to anamorphic video to understand what's happening here.

Re: How do I nominate a desired file size … (more) ...
As long as you know the running time of your source and what audio bitrate you're going to select, a bitrate calculator in conjunction with HandBrake's 2-pass average bitrate encoding will give you the desired result.

Re: Extra Chapter Marker to mp4 file
More likely to be a dummy chapter placed at the end of the title, specifically to prevent you from accidentally chapter advancing into the next title. HandBrake automatically discards them if they're under 1 second in duration, however for title 12 in the scan we have the following:- [15:40:50] scan...

Audio passthrough is already supported. Video passthrough is unlikely as HandBrake's A/V sync is reliant on transcoding the video.

Try renaming the output file. Last time I checked, the colon is a OS reserved character under Windows. Your screenshot shows the filename has been truncated from that point.

Re: [Help Needed] Converting "Sony Xperia S" Video
FRAPS is a much less efficient codec than H.264, which explains the massive reduction in file size. Video shot on the Xperia S is already in H.264 so you can't expect the same kind of reduction. Desktop video is also far simpler and easier to compress than live video.
