Ideally, what I'd like to see happen (and I'm willing to assist with this) is the creation of a revision 71, based on the revision 70 trunk where the _only_ changes are the 'upgrade' of x264 and possibly the inclusion of the ABR change. This revision should be compilable out-of-the-box and should f...

Screenshot of new test gui running new x264

Just thought I would post link to a screenshot of a new test gui running an h.264 Level 3.0 encode at 640 x xxx iPod compatible using the new x264 rev604 with Altivec Enhancements (though I am still verifying that I am getting the full benefit). For those wondering about the low fps, it is running o...

Okay, late last night I did try using the new x264 using jbrjakes patches to the libhb directory. Specifically common.h, encx264.c and his temporary patches to the contrib/Jamfile to force HB to use the new x264 (again, I am ONLY using rev 70 from this trunk and the new h.264 level 3.0 format). I di...

Will be interesting to see if we can get the new x264 integrated with the patch files on rev 70 of this trunk. I am unfortunately still wrapping my teeth around how all of this flows once it gets to libhb. Up until now, I have primarily been working with the GUI and some very small changes. Hope to ...

Dont want to sound stupid, but would the altivec changes be realized on the new Intel Macs or is it just going to help us ppc folk? I almost fell over when I saw 10 fps on a 1g powerbook with 640 x 480 h.264 Level 3.0 ! Plus, in some of the other revisions after the one currently being used I notice...

interestingly enough, even with the new x264, I do get 640 x 480 h.264 level 3.0 movies that transfer to the iPod. Its just that bitrate control is waaaay off. rhester - how do you suggest we go about incorporating the 604 version with your patches ? jbrjake - have you tried working with the rev 70 ...

Okay, as jbrjake noted the newer ones are altivec enhanced which is great, but by themselves do not work with Rev 70 from here. I have tried manually using 601 and 604 from the svn over at vlc and everything builds but resulting movies are not right (as rhester noted) So, it seems to me it would be ...

rhester, Thank You so much from all of us! Oddly enough, concerning Titer, I see he checked in a version of x264 over at their svn on 11/25 I think. So, he is apparently still breathing assuming it is the same titer. I am currently trying to merge this version 70 with a newer x264 which incorporates...

Hmmm. Okay, I will have to get up to speed on this. Frankly I am not using the CLI but trying to implement the new x264 into the Mac OSX Gui. So, I am not really familiar with how to make sure it uses the new x264 on building it with the command line. Did you have to modify the jam rules at all to m...

jbrjake: I noticed that the new x264 is missing some of the files that are in the version the HB uses. Did you just replace the new ones and keep the old ones? Or did you just use only the new library and keep none of the old x264 library ? After incorporating the new version of x264 I almost fell o...

Yes, it would be nice to see what you have done here. Maybe you could pase in your changes just so we could see what you have done. Are your changes based on Rev 70 from this trunk, or that last one titer checked in at the official site ? Either way, it would be great if you wanted to post your chan...

Status of this site and svn question

I guess this is basically addressed to rhester as he setup and is hosting this site with the svn tree and forum. I know from your announcement that you do not have time to develop HB. So, I was just wondering if you are intending to keep this site and svn tree open to those of us attempting to strug...

Thanks for testing it out.
We will have to look into it as soon as we get the other stuff ironed out. Particularly the h.264 Level 3.0 Intel memory leak. That is paramount right now in my opinion.

Hmmm. Did you use the same settings for both the official version and this one? Using 0.7.1a (this version) were you using the New h.264 baseline 3.0 setting or one of the "Old" settings? If you were using the new setting, then maybe you could try using this test version using the same set...

zaphod, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I assume you are using the version contained at this sites svn. If not, then you really need to use the Official Handbrake Forum as this is not a replacement for that forum http://multics.dynalias.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5 . However, if you are h...

Just want to make sure it is fairly stable in terms of interface.

SndChsr - It is nice to see you moving forward, my prefs pane and new GUI is coming along. The holiday stuff with family and my job do kind of get in the way this time of year. I like the GUI you found. I am still vetting the stability of my prefs pane and have now started expanding its functionalit...

Awesome. Yes, I certainly can use all of the help I can get, particularly on the x264 portion for the intel macs. PPC is working awesome. I am very happy with it right now. chrislong was apparently close on the x264 Intel stuff for h.264 but, so far, he hasnt checked in what he was working on accord...

New Version

Well, as it seems according to rhester, that handbrake development may have once again come to a bit of a halt, I have started trying to continue some development based on the current revision 70 code from this svn. However, I am not sure how to introduce my changes and I want to make sure I dont st...
