Detect changes in audio channels in streams
Many TV Channels switch between 2.0 and 5.1 channels on-the-fly. Advertisings are send with stereo audio but movies often with 5.1 (surround sound) the issue is that often the channels start the first seconds of the movie with stereo sound but switch to surround then. If you want to keep the credits...

Re: VP8, VP9 WebM encoding feature. Theora
Hmm, VP9 is supposedly 7% faster than H.265, or so I read somewhere. Well they claimed that for VP8 in comparison with H264 already. Which obviously didn't end up right... H264 - as implemented in x264 - is way faster and is way more efficient than VP8 in any implemented form. We will see whether a...

Re: File size estimate
he doesn't want an option like "pls stay below this file size", but a bar/text next next to the avg fps that shows "current avg. Bitrate * length of the movie" which shouldn't be hard to implement, right? of course it isn't accurate, but he was asking for an estimated file size i...

Re: [InProgress] Intel QSV support for H265?
They are just guessing at this point with regards to VP9. Is it about me? Anyway, x265 might be usable in 2020 if not after. But till there I'd like to see an alternative thing to shine more (VP9, YkT, Daala). Very unlikely, as money is their biggest (if not the only) motivation. what is YkT? I hav...

Re: Allow importing external .ssa/.ass subtitles
you should try out Subtitle Edit instead ;) it works awesome for me and you can use a wide range of formats as in- and output ->you could export .ass to .srt for example you can see the subtitles directly on the video and sync them with the video if they are asynchronous and to top it off: it's open...

Re: Provide Warning for Files Larger than 4gb
For the quality setting estimation might not be possible, but if you choose a file size over 4gb or set the average bitrate to a value that makes the file size exceed 4gb then there should be a notification/error/abort (average bitrate/s*runtime of the movie=estimated file size) EDIT: scrap what I j...

What do you think about implementing more input formats for subtitles? Yep, thx Just wanted to list further scalers and info about scaling algorithms, If somebody who is interested in implementing it into Handbrake/FMPEG, he might find it useful A book about a super resolution algorithm with subpixel motion estimation (starts at page 229, but you need to buy the book f...

implement 2d to 3d conversion
What do you think about implementing an option to convert your video file from 2d to 3d? I know that software-based solutions weill never beat real 3d recordings/videos but it's at least something. Re: Further image scaling algorithms
Having some experience with super resolution algorithms, I can say that the results are typically not dramatic if you're going for a natural looking upscale. Animation excepted, of course. That said it's cool tech, and patches as always, are welcome. I've not yet found an open source implementation...

Re: Further image scaling algorithms
Will look out for open-source super resolution filters. But the open-source-code for all scalers for animations are available at the sites presented in the quote above, it's all GPL or LGPL, I think ;) (Just click on the links and your browsers takes you to the Google code pages containing the sourc...

Re: [Rejected] Video Passthrough Feature Request
Lol I had to Google that codec  Never heard of it before. Of course there is no way to do that but I didn't ask for it as I don't have any videos encoded by VC-1. (There is also no way for me to use the new opencl bicubic image scaler as I'm using a nvidia card, but I'm not complaining. -> ther...

Ok sorry for wrong statement then and thx for your correction. Re: Video Passthrough Feature Request
Are you talking to me or epstewart?
My source frames are encoded either in H264 (HD) or MPEG-2 (SD) ->TV recordings: Transportstreams
Handbrake supports both so that it should be possible to just pass most of the frames through if they are OK.

Re: Video Passthrough Feature Request
Would be nice to have at least a "partial" video passthrough -> advice the handbrake core to reuse existing frames, but if there are a/v sync errors reencode the particular scene. You wouldn't be able to change the framerate or use filters and stuff but it would result in a working video p...
