By which I'm sure you mean preset and not profile.

Re: Re-encode or process otherwise

You could use mkvtoolnix to trim off the end bit if you want. If you prerip with MakeMKV, you could trim it before feeding it to Handbrake.

Handbrake has always created a desktop shortcut.

Have you set the zoom setting for the display to something other than 100%?

Re: Need suggestions: Massive encoding job pending

Use the MKV container, and passthrough the preferred audio streams. Maybe add a stereo mixdown with a better AAC encoder, for those that are watching via a tablet so that Plex won't have to do that also.

As for settings to use, only you can determine what looks good to you.

For future reference, please just post the log. Having to download it, and then find it's a PDF file makes me not want to look any farther into this.

Maybe try adding the Detelecine filter, and unless required by your playback environment, switch to Variable Frame Rate.

They actually decided to get out of the decryption game several versions back, since it was taking up more time to work on updating decryption schemes than working on great features for Handbrake.

The exciting part about using CRF is that you are encoding for a quality level and not a file size. Some files will come out larger, and some will come out smaller. It's the nature of the beast.

Re: Extract specific time from a mkv file

Handbrake will transcode the segment that you want, if you use the start time/end time option.

If you don't want the segment altered, then I think you would want to use mkvtoolnix.

Prerip with MakeMKV and then process that file with Handbrake.

Perhaps the 'appropriate software' you are using to rip the disc is not very good, and is causing errors.

Reading is fundamental mduell. The source for the tablet jobs was the transcode from the disc that he did the first. I don't see how you could miss that since he put it in red at the top of the logs.

I only tired x265 a bit, and I'm not sure if it's supported in the mp4 container.

You don't have any problems with any other x265 encodes in mp4 containers?

How did you decrypt the disc?

Smithcraft, maybe I'm missing something but what makes you say this would be a progressive source? All I see in the logs is mention of mpeg2 1920x1080 @ 29.97fps, no mention of whether its interlaced or progressive although in my experience most of the video I've come across that meets that descrip...

It would also be helpful to know what kind of tablet, and what version of the OS it's running, as well as what app you are using to watch the videos.
