Re: NLMeans denoise filter
ok, cool the new docs section looks promising thx for your quick answer :) one last question: Does Handbrake denoise first or deinterlace? I read on the internet, that deinterlacers work better on denoised content And can I output interlaced in anyway or do I have to use ffmpeg for that then? I woul...

Re: NLMeans denoise filter
Future improvement While quite advanced, the algorithm has minor quirks that provide some room for improvement. Replacing the current strength metric with one that takes patch size, search range, and temporal depth into account would create more consistency between settings and improve usability. O...

Re: Use ffmpeg 3.0 AAC encoder by default
I'm fairly certain, that they (should) know that the native aac encoder from FFmpeg is now stable, but I wasn't able to find a bug report about it.
Here you can find their bugzilla:

Re: [Upstream Bug] HB doesn't use PCM audio from a CS6 encoded .avi
Oh, I didn't know that. Good to know though :) Since I'm only 20years old, my first encodes were all mp4s or 3gpp files. (downloading from YouTube for my old phone etc.) avis already seemed fairly old to me and I barely came in touch with them. The only reason I used the container, was to be able to...

yeah but the likeliness that just one decoded image out of the movie looks this bad... but as churchill said: I only believe in statistics that I doctored myself @Kampfhamster If you have an intel e processor, then you usually don't need the hardware encoding, because the CPU ist faster and has high...

Re: HB doesn't use PCM audio from a CS6 encoded .avi
ok, cool :) I thought it was just a bug in HB, so I reported it here just testet the current libav win nightly from June 1 It gives me the following error: [abuffer @ 0000000002af7360] Invalid sample format (null). Error opening filters! I'll report the issue on their bugzilla now, so it can get fix...

remove private information from logs

[Upstream Bug] HB doesn't use PCM audio from a CS6 encoded .avi

Re: VP9 constrained quality settings
Probably already implemented; there should be an "additional options" box. Not sure what the option names would be, but since we encode via libavcodec, they would probably match what you pass to avconv/ffmpeg. Well then this feature request is about implementing the according GUI options ...

Re: VP9 constrained quality settings
until netvc/daala is out: what are the options? Do you want to stick to H.264 or VP8? I know VP9 might not be the best choice, but you can forget about H.265 on the internet and Handbrake supports VP9 after all. About wasting time: this is a low priority issue for me, so they can fix this far later ...

Issue replying to threads
I'm using the latest Firefox Nightly on Win10 and posting on this forum gets me the following SSL error: http://i.imgur.com/pl7AoTH.png The issue seems to be, that this forum sends the data to port 80 on submit at the moment instead of port 443. Posting works fine as proved by creating this thread, ...

Re: Patch for Opus support
What happened to the patch?
I tried the latest nightly and Opus sadly isn't an option, yet.
Was it postponed for some reason?
I would love to be able to encode my audio in opus, without passing my video through FFmpeg after having used Handbrake
Regards,
Djfe

VP9 constrained quality settings
Please describe what you would like to see added to HandBrake: Constrained Quality for VP9 Why would you like to see this added: I want to have the best possible quality for my web videos, but I don't want to waste bitrate for scenes that require less, but I also want to set a maximum bitrate so th...

I don't think renaming would be enough and the reason they don't include it, yet, is afaik usability and not that it's hard to implement
Just use ffmpeg instead

Re: Remove "web optimized" checkbox, make default
IMO it should still be left as an option, but the name could be changed and it should be the default for most/all presets what do you think about calling it "progressive playback" or "progressive download" or "fast start" because it's not limited to web playback (I don'...

Re: 3D VR conversion 3DLR <> 3DTB
maybe this might help you too: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/FilteringGuide (ffmpeg has some in-built tools for creating side-by-side top-bottom videos from two or more sources, but I'm not sure whether or how you can select areas from one video for that) Are you sure VR doesn't support side-by-side?...

Re: 3D VR conversion 3DLR <> 3DTB
Yeah that feature be nice for the future. But it requires a lot of work. I guess, the Devs will/should wait for H.264 MVC decode in the libav upstream. They started/pushed the development for it a lot this year. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=227862 Further details about the refactoring fro...

Re: DVD encoding quality
No that was not what I meant, I should have been more precise. Let's say I recorded a movie/show on TV: 720p H.264 Transporstream And now I want to create a DVD from it, that I can play on DVD players. I know the best method if it's only about transporting the movie would be storing the H.264 encode...

DVD encoding quality
Just a short question about dvd encoding, I wasn't really able to find a good answer for on the internet What looks better/preserves more quality: Interlaced or progressive? Or is that the wrong question, because it depends on the player itself? The idea behind it is: as far as I know interlaced nee...

Re: Duplicate (Progressive) Frame Decimate
So what about perfect duplicates at least? would be kinda interesting for me though I know a better file format already: Apple's QTRLE I could easily provide some examples with exact pixel-perfect duplicates in it (and I mean lots of them) up to 90mins of encoded presentations (powerpoint/pdf) with ...

Hi everyone, it might be worth to take a look at Faac* (ups, see below) again and compare it to FDK AAC ;) http://ffmpeg.org/index.html#aac_encoder_stable They flagged it as stable yesterday https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/commit/713e67e5d873d1a76681e92c61f0b387f2777151 Apparently two developers pu...

Re: Theora fails in 10.0 (works in 9.9)
just a question about theora (I didn't want to open another thread for that):
isn't it possible that you could reuse some of that code for daala?
or do you think it doesn't make sense to leave it in, because daala is entirely different or because you could get the older code from your git anyways?
