Re: General question - why to deinterlace video at all?

I'm out of the loop with what Plex offers, but if it hasn't changed, it only offers basic deinterlacers so Handbrake might offer a better option with making it progressive once and for all.

Mustardface, we really would love to help you out, but without knowing the specifics of what you are working with, we really don't have any thing to suggest. That is why we need the logs.

With my Grain preset, I have the CQ a notch or two higher(numerically speaking of course) to keep the file size down.

We bump x265 whenever they release a new version... Unless we are feeling lazy, in which case, it happens when it happens  That's a pretty worthless philosophy John! Why don't you do it immediately, and with out any testing to see if it breaks something! DO IT NOW! Fer crying out...

Re: synchronization gap in chapter?

Unless something has changed in the way the logs are written, I don't see any subtitle stream in that transcoding job.

Also, looking at the mux: section of the log there are only two tracks.

Re: Re-encode or process otherwise

If the playlist for the file includes that PSA, then MakeMKV will include it in the ripped file since MakeMKV doesn't know anything other than what the playlist says should be there.

Re: XBOX 360 plist.

An encode log would be really helpful. It would show us what the source file is and what streams it contains.

The log you supplied shows no subtitles in the file.

AC3 Passthru is for AC3. If it's not AC3 then it is converted based on your settings.

That's odd, since Handbrake does not add black bars.

Handbrake creates something of a log in the activity window. Even copying and pasting that into your post would have provided more information to help us to help you.

Re: Video Passthru?

No, there is not an option in Handbrake to do this.

However, since you used the MKV container, it's a simple matter to use mkvtoolnix to open the Handbraked file, and set the subtitle setting to default.

MakeMKV isn't going to strip anything out of what it thinks it is supposed to rip. It doesn't edit.

Re: Stops encoding after 4 min. and 56 seconds of rendered video

Your AVI is invalid -- over the size limit for compliant AVIs. Remux to MKV or something with a tool you find on Google that will handle non-compliant AVIs. Also for the love of god, search before posting like the rules say to. This has been covered repeatedly. As I am sure you are aware, AVI is a ...

Re: iMovie and HandBrake ...

For the log, as far as I can recall, I just copied the log in the HB window and pasted it in a new PDF file .. That's it ! So what did I do wrong ? I will have to find out. Handbrake provides a text file for every encode log it generates. Copy and paste into a PDF is not needed when there is alread...

It would be helpful if you post the encode log so we can see what you had Handbrake do, and what Handbrake saw.

Then we can show you how to have Handbrake search for this information for you in the future.

Yes, I noticed that he was using Dropbox as a pastebin. It was not displaying in the browser, but came up as a file to download. Then it was a PDF that was numerous pages.

It seems to me, that it would be easier to just post a text document rather than a PDF.

Of course, that might just be me.
