Re: mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

If you be sure to move the cursor out of the Plot entry box before starting the encode, it should always work. What should be a fool proof behaviour to get rid of this problem? I can imagine that this is the problem, but otherwise I am pretty sure I moved the cursor out of the box. Should it help t...

Re: mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

I think this was the problem https://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/6575 If you be sure to move the cursor out of the Plot entry box before starting the encode, it should always work. I always move the cursor out of the plot field to another field, of course there could be an exception. Normally the p...

Re: mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

I tried now a plot with a lot more (2-3x) words than before and it worked without problems. Maybe you can check if a tab could make problems. When I don't pay attention I am copying too much and maybe with a tab at the beginning or the end, but normally I delete it. I am pretty sure, that there was ...

Re: mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

Well I think, it doesn't depend on the words, maybe a memory leak, really no idea, just guessing. I used this plot: http://www.moviepilot.de/movies/der-suendenbock-von-spatzenhausen mit Leib und Seele Bahnhofsvorsteher in dem süddeutschen Örtchen (did not work) mit Leib und Seele Bahnhofsvorsteher i...

Re: mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

First I want to thank you a lot for the possibiliy to write tags. I am really happy about it! I see you see the tags from another point. Most times I use the tags for my private camcorder videos and not for movies, which I bought. I think this is a big difference, I am happy with the fields I get at...

Re: Subtitles with "foreign" language only

Unfortunately I see German subtitles too, when the actors speak German, so German subtitles are shown permanently. Edit: Now I am totally confused, all the subtitles vanished. I have to pay attention, that the player is not fooling me. It seems to be correct IMHO, that I cannot choose subtitles, whe...

Re: Subtitles with "foreign" language only

I think I found, what I did wrong. I don't have to set German as subtitle, but "Foreign audio search". I am checking if it works at the moment, subtitles are shown, but I have to wait if no subtitles are shown too, if the actors speak German. Nevertheless it is confusing to see "pass&...

Re: Subtitles with "foreign" language only

I set it to "First track matching selected languages" as well as ""All tracks matching selected languages" and don't see subtitles. Did I forget anything? The source shows subtitles, when I check this. The words are spoken in Spanish at the beginning, while the audio is set ...

Thanks, but I wonder now, while I don't see this gain. I think it is better discussed in this thread, because it is no bug obviously: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31218&e=1&view=unread#unread

HandBrake svn6559 (2014112601) - Linux x86_64 https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/HardwareAcceleration We added two checkboxes on Handbrake’s main GUI to control the enabling/disabling of hardware support/OpenCL support I can't see these checkboxes. Once I got it work, that subtitles are showed only, when the language is not the default language. But the settings below don't work. Please help me and tell me what is wrong.

Random, not reproduceable bug (2 pass encoding instead of crf)

Since a while it happens from time to time, that a 2 pass encoding is started, instead of a crf-encoding. This is more an info, than a bug report. But I do something special. I start Handbrake more than once and don't use a queue. I do this, because often I have to do finetuning and have to start wi...

Re: 29.9 fps to 25fps or 23.9fps or?

Yes PAL is 25fps, but the Samsung TV works fine with lower framerates too, but not higher. With 29.9 fps there are a lot drop outs. Maybe Samsung doesn't support 29.9 progressive. Sometimes I think the cpu in the TV is too weak.

Re: 29.9 fps to 25fps or 23.9fps or?

I don't believe the problem is variable framerate, because I have no problems with variable framerate, when it is a lower value. I simply think the firmware of the Samsung is stupid, because the TV is sold in the EU and there is normally no 29.9fps and they can't imagine, that I want to play my musi...

Re: mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

The "Tags" tab in the linux GUI is *only* there because there are no good tags editors that I could find on linux. I fully agree. What do you use, if you have to write metadata in encoded files? Some day I may find some time to write a dedicated tag editor I hope some day will be soon ;-)...

Re: 29.9 fps to 25fps or 23.9fps or?

That your problem is actually framerate is a bit unbelievable I have this problem with different files. Normally I use with framerate, "same as source with variable framerate". The source itself makes problems already, when played with the Samsung, not the LG TV. I can try to use a consta...

Sure? I have the same opinion with _2_ channels, but if there are 5 channels it should be more, or not?

Re: 29.9 fps to 25fps or 23.9fps or?

Input is via USB or WLAN. It are handbrake-files. Normalle German PAL with 25fps is used. My Samsung TV doesn't want to play these 29.9fps files, while the LG TV does, so I have to reduce the frame rate and then it works. But I am unsure which would be the best rate from the sight of conversion.

Recommended (minimum) audio bitrate for Dolby Pro Logic II

For stereo 160kbps are fine for my movies. Which audio bitrate do you recommend (minimum) for Dolby Pro Logic II? Are 256kbps enough?

29.9 fps to 25fps or 23.9fps or?

My tv doesn't support 29.9fps so I have to convert it to a lower frame rate. Would be 23.9fps better than 25fps from a technical sight?

mkv tag-editor (without encoding)

Since I don't know an easy to understand tag-editor under linux for movies, I suggest to add this feature to handbrake. Handbrake has already the possibility to enter tags if the video is encoded, so there should be a button to write the tags without encoding. I know there is mkvpropedit, but it is ...

Re: People look too fat / broad

Sorry, for not attaching the log, but in this case I think it is useless. It is a technical question re geometry values probably. I know how to do this in 2 steps. 1st encoding: storage geometry to 4:3, 2nd encoding cropping top and bottom. [11:25:10] gtkgui: HandBrake svn6502 (2014110401) - Linux x...

People look too fat / broad

handbrake-gtk 6502svnppa1~trusty1 I think I have a mp4-movie which was originally in 4:3 but was stretched to 16:9 somehow. How can I correct this? At the end I want to get a 16:9 movie with top and bottom cut, so the people do not look so broad. Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Vide...
