Yes PAL is 25fps, but the Samsung TV works fine with lower framerates too, but not higher. With 29.9 fps there are a lot drop outs. Maybe Samsung doesn't support 29.9 progressive. Sometimes I think the cpu in the TV is too weak.

I don't believe the problem is variable framerate, because I have no problems with variable framerate, when it is a lower value. The "Tags" tab in the linux GUI is *only* there because there are no good tags editors that I could find on linux. I fully agree. What do you use, if you have to write metadata in encoded files? Some day I may find some time to write a dedicated tag editor I hope some day will be soon ;-)...

Input is via USB or WLAN. It are handbrake-files. Normalle German PAL with 25fps is used. My Samsung TV doesn't want to play these 29.9fps files, while the LG TV does, so I have to reduce the frame rate and then it works. But I am unsure which would be the best rate from the sight of conversion.

For stereo 160kbps are fine for my movies. Which audio bitrate do you recommend (minimum) for Dolby Pro Logic II? Are 256kbps enough?
